As additional coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccinations arrive in the country, a consultant with the National Task Force against Covid-19 says Filipinos no longer have an excuse not to get vaccinated.

“No cause na mag-dalawang isip na hindi tayo pwede bakunahan po tayo. (There is no longer any cause to doubt whether we should be vaccinated.) Nandyan na po ang supply ang pag-implement na lang o’yung pag babakuna ang kailangan paigtingin natin (There is no longer any reason to doubt whether we should be vaccinated.) The supply is already on its way. Only the implementation or intensification of our vaccination program remains to be done) “During an interview shortly after the arrival of a total of 866,970 Pfizer vaccine doses at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Thursday night, NTF Against Covid-19 medical consultant Dr. Maria Paz Corrales said.

With enough vaccines on hand, Corrales said the government is now doing everything it can to make sure Filipinos get vaccinated.

“Ang ating mga kapwa Filipino na magpabakuna ang mga advocacy activities, invitations, lahat po ng sector ay iniimbita at hinihikayat. The supply is not a problem, which is why advocacy programs and invites are now sold out. All Filipinos, from all walks of life, are now being pushed to get vaccinated. The issue of supply is no longer an issue “she continued.

Meanwhile, Corrales stated that all vaccine brands available in the country will be used during the scheduled National Covid-19 Vaccination Days, which will take place from November 29 to December 1.

“Yung limang brands (all five brands) are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, and Sputnik V,” she added.

Corrales further stated that the move is a “whole-government-approach” project, implying that it will involve other government agencies such as the Department of Health, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, and the military.

Aside from government entities, the event will include private organizations such as religious groups and medical associations.

“We expect to vaccinate 15 million Filipinos over the course of three days,” she said. “The target is 5 million jabs per day (and) 15 million over three days,” she added.

Corrales also hoped that everyone will take part in the vaccine program in order for the country’s economic recovery to begin.

The 866,970 Pfizer doses arrived at roughly 8:30 p.m., thanks to Air Hongkong Flight LD-456.

“We would like to thank the United States for facilitating the delivery of the Pfizer 866,000 doses on behalf of (NTF Against Covid-19 top implementer and vaccine czar) Secretary (Carlito) Galvez,” Corrales added.

She went on to say that these Pfizer vaccines will be utilized for pediatric vaccinations and will be available for immunization activities in the first quarter of 2022.

Meanwhile, John Avrett, a foreign service officer at the US Embassy in Manila, praised the Philippines’ efforts to vaccinate its citizens.
