The rate of Covid-19 case increase has slowed in the National Capital Region and three surrounding provinces.
The number of Covid-19 cases in the National Capital Region continues to fall, with a growth rate of minus 42 percent as of the previous week.
Dr. Guido David, an OCTA Research Group member, said the reduction was also seen in Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal during a televised public briefing on Monday.
“Iyong daily attack rate natin ay 61 na lang per 100,000 so mukhang mataas pa rin iyan kaya sinasabi natin na high risk pa rin,” David explained.
Previously, NCR’s average daily attack rate was over 100.
“Iyong positivity rate natin, wala akong datos nito sa ngayon, pero sa pagka-intindi ko at extrapolation namin, baka nasa 40% na lang (Our positivity rate, I don’t have data at the moment),” he remarked.
If the current trend in the NCR continues, David predicts a “pleasant” Valentine’s Day for the region, with less than 1,000 cases at moderate risk every day.
On Sunday, the NCR recorded 5,433 new cases, down from 6,646 on Saturday.
On January 21, 7,279 people were counted; on January 20, 9,455 people were counted; and on January 19, 8,376 people were counted.
In seven highly-urbanized cities (HUCs), however, new instances continue to emerge: Bacolod, Baguio, Butuan, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, and Mandaue.
Bacolod has a one-week growth rate of 143 percent; Baguio has a rate of 68 percent; Butuan has a rate of 200 percent; Davao City has a rate of 316 percent; General Santos has a rate of 116 percent; Iloilo City has a rate of 168 percent, and Mandaue has a rate of 228 percent.
