According to the Department of Tourism (DOT), the country’s forthcoming reopening to foreign leisure travelers will restore employment lost and businesses forced to close due to the pandemic.

Beginning February 10, the Philippines will allow fully vaccinated overseas tourists from visa-free countries to enter the country if they submit a negative RT-PCR test taken within 48 hours of leaving their home country.

To date, 157 countries have visa-free access to the Philippines, including some of the country’s most popular tourist destinations before the outbreak, such as South Korea, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany.

“We at the Department of Transportation are grateful to our IATF-EID (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) partners for approving our proposal to allow foreign leisure tourists to enter the United States. The Department views this as a positive move that will help restore jobs, particularly in tourism-dependent towns, and reopen companies that were previously closed due to the epidemic,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said.
