On Thursday, a civic organization in Marawi City applauded the Senate’s approval of Senate Bill 2420, also known as the Marawi Compensation Bill.

The Marawi Reconstruction Conflict Watch (MRCW) stated in a statement on Thursday that the Marawi Compensation Bill represents the government’s acceptance of its responsibility to reconstruct the lives and restore the dignity of the more than 300,000 Marawi siege victims.

“Our Senators’ efforts in initiating, modifying, and moving this bill forward are greatly appreciated. However, we maintain and stress our appeal for the law to be passed on the third and final reading before Congress adjourns next week on February 4th “added the collective.

The MRCW also urged the House of Representatives to support the bill’s quick approval and President Rodrigo Duterte to sign it into law as soon as possible.

Senators from Mindanao announced the bill’s passage on their individual Facebook accounts on Wednesday.

When it was authorized, Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri stated he was “emotional” since it would benefit the afflicted population, particularly those who resided in the Most Affected Areas.

In a Facebook statement, he stated, “They will be able to get (soon) Just Compensation or financial support so that they can rise up again from the nightmares they had faced.”

On his Facebook page, Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa stated that the law aims to assist Marawi villagers in rebuilding their homes.
