In Sultan Kudarat, two rescued dolphins were released back into the sea.

Officials reported Friday that two injured sea animals were safely released to their native habitat after being treated by environmentalists.

Two Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) ran aground along the coast of Barangay Poral in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat, according to Forester Iskak Dipatuan of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).

After Kalamansig Municipal Administrator Soccoro Lanto contacted his office, Dipatuan said his team promptly proceeded to Poral Beach, where the injured marine creatures were spotted.

One dolphin suffered injuries, while the other was weak owing to a tiny wound, according to CENRO Kalamansig researcher Michael Reglos.

A physical assessment of the creatures was undertaken by the municipal agriculture services office, supervised by vets Rebecca Gorieza and Chris Donguines, and Billy Jul from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

One of the dolphins suffered lesions to its pectoral fin, and its posterior was filled with parasites, they discovered. The orifice of the other has a slight wound.

Antibiotics and vitamins were provided to the dolphins.

“The two sea creatures were released back to their original habitat when they showed indications of recovery and appeared to have recovered,” Dipatuan said.

Dipatuan expressed his gratitude to those who live near the shore and fishermen for not harming the dolphins.
