This Christmas season, the local government has issued an order prohibiting the staging of face-to-face parties between individuals who do not live in the same residence.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. signed an executive order (EO) on Monday to prevent the Omicron strain of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) from entering the city, which has been found in some nations.

“Ginagawa lamang po natin ang mga necessary safety measures bilang pag-iingat po sa ating mga kababayan,” he said in a social media post. “Lalo na po ngayon na mayroon na namang bagong variant na de-detect sa ibang bansa (We are only doing the necessary safety measures for the protection of our citizens

Christmas and New Year parties and similar social gatherings in offices, establishments, and companies were prohibited, as were reunions among relatives and family members who live in different homes, reunions with former colleagues and schoolmates, and parties with individuals who are members of the same group or organization, according to the EO.

Despite a continuous drop of Covid-19 cases in the city, the mayor encouraged his residents to remain watchful.

“Let us not relax our guard. We should all work together to put an end to this plague during the forthcoming holiday season. He continued, “Ito naman po ang tunay na kahulugan ng mga selebrasyon na ito — pagmamahalan at pagtutulungan (This is the actual meaning of this celebration—love and cooperation).”

There are just ten active Covid-19 instances in this city as of Sunday.
