‘Let us work together to reach every Filipino who is still unvaccinated,’ said PRRD.

President Rodrigo Duterte is optimistic that the second Covid-19 vaccine drive will finally persuade the unvaccinated to get their shots.

On Thursday, during the commencement of Phase 2 of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” vaccination days in SM Megamall, Duterte made this call.

“The highly successful first phase of Bayanihan, Bakunahan has not only brought us closer to our goal of population protection against Covid-19, but it has also demonstrated what remarkable feats we can achieve if we are united and working together,” Duterte said in a speech delivered on his behalf by Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

Duterte urged all stakeholders to recreate the success of the inaugural Bayanihan, Bakunahan vaccination program, which took place from November 29 to December 1.

“As we embark on the second phase of Bayanihan, Bakunahan, let us show the same zeal, teamwork, and determination that made the first phase a success.” Let us endeavor to reach every Filipino who is unvaccinated so that we can provide them with the protection they need to stay healthy,” he added.

Front-line workers, government agencies, local government units (LGUs), commercial partners, and the general public were all credited with the immunization drive’s success, according to Duterte.

During the three-day national vaccination days, he recognized the LGUs of the Calabarzon region, the province of Laguna, Cebu City, the municipality of Tanza in Cavite, the municipality of Rodriguez (Rizal), and the municipality of Arayat (Pampanga) for having administered the highest number of jabs.

He also praised the provinces of Tawi-Tawi and General Santos City for having the highest average jab rate improvement between their pre-national vaccination days accomplishment and their output during the event.

“We really appreciate all of your efforts in assisting the government in combating this pandemic. “May this occurrence serve as a further reminder to our citizens of their civic responsibility in preventing the spread of the coronavirus and keeping our communities safe and healthy,” he said.

Bakunahan, the second phase of Bayanihan, will take place from December 15 to 17.

The second simultaneous vaccination effort, according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, will target roughly 7 million Filipinos, down from 9 million in the first run.

Phase 2 of Bayanihan, Bakunahan will primarily focus on second-dose vaccines. However, walk-ins who are looking for their first dose will be welcomed as well.

Nograles has stated that the government aims to surpass its goal of fully vaccinating 54 million Filipinos by the end of the year.

Over 38 million Filipinos have been fully immunize against Covid-19 to date.
