After 582 new cases were reported on Friday, the country observed a small increase in active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported in its Covid-19 bulletin that this boosted the total number of active cases to 10,167, up from 10,095 on Thursday.
The number of new infections on Friday nearly doubled from the previous day’s total of 289.
Meanwhile, 494 fresh recoveries brought the total number of people who have recovered from the disease to 2,776,727, or 97.9% of the total number of cases since the epidemic began.
A total of 74 people died as a result of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 50,570.
Based on the 33,545 people who were tested on December 15, the positivity percentage is 1%.
Out of the more than 10,000 ongoing cases, 539 are asymptomatic, 4,015 are mild, 3,415 are moderate, 1,815 are severe, and 383 are critical, according to the department.
According to the report, Covid-19 patients occupy at least 22% of the 3,600 ICU beds, 23% of the 19,400 isolation beds, and 12% of the 12,400 ward beds across the country.
About 24% of the 1,200 ICU beds, 19% of the 4,600 isolation beds, and 18% of the 3,700 ward beds devoted to Covid-19 cases are filled in Metro Manila.
