Bulacan is the tenth most competitive province in the Philippines.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) placed Bulacan 10th among the country’s most competitive provinces in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

Governor Daniel Fernando said in a statement on Friday that the province has received such honor for the third year in a row.

Bulacan was ranked eighth in 2020 and ninth in 2019, a significant increase from its previous rankings of 49th in 2018, 48th in 2016, and 44th in 2015.

Fernando, on the other hand, believes that, more than recognition, the Bulakenyos’ contentment with his administration’s goals, plans, and initiatives may be used to gauge the province government’s competitiveness.

“Ipinapakita sa nakamit nating ito na tagumpay ang ating lalawigan sa pangangalaga sa ating ekonomiya, kabilang na diyan ang mga maliliit na negosyo at pagbibigay ng oportunidad na makapagtrabaho,” says the author. Pinilay man ng pandemya ang ating ekonomiya, hudyat ang pagkilalang ito ng unti-unting pagbangon ng ating lalawigan Despite the fact that the epidemic damaged our economy, this award reflects our province’s slow comeback),” he remarked.

As for the most competitive local government units (LGUs) among first- and second-class municipalities, the municipality of Baliwag came in second, the municipality of Santa Maria came in 12th, and the municipality of Marilao came in 16th.

The CMCI is a yearly rating of locales established by the National Competitiveness Council and the DTI, with aid from the US Agency for International Development, through the Regional Competitiveness Committees.

Each LGU’s performance is evaluated in terms of economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.
