NorMin receives 57K vaccine shots for children.

CITY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO โ€” The first batch of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination landed at the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental, containing 57,000 doses that would be used exclusively for children aged 5 to 11.

The Pfizer vaccine doses have been brought to the DOH-10’s storage facility, according to Dr. David Mendoza, chief of the Department of Health – Northern Mindanao’s (DOH-10) local health support division.

The initial doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be utilized for the first week of the vaccination push for youngsters, according to DOH-10 assistant director Dr. Ellenieta Gamolo.

The vaccination program for children aged 5 to 11 will begin in the region on Monday, February 14.

It will be hosted at SM Downtown Premier and JR Borja General Hospital in Cagayan de Oro.

The following day, February 15, it will be launched at Centrio Ayala Mall and the grounds of the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral.

Gamolo stated that the DOH-10 intends to start a two-day vaccination program for children once a week.

“We were warned not to combine the pedia(tric) and the elderly since it would be difficult for us to provide their vaccines if they were mixed. Pediatric immunizations are particularly specialized “she stated

She also stated that in addition to the immunization sites, a vaccination rollout for children aged 5 to 11 years will be conducted within schools.

In collaboration with the Department of Education-10, they are working on a master list of enrolled students.

Camiguin’s launch

In the meanwhile, on February 16, youngsters in Camiguin will be vaccinated.

Camiguin General Hospital will be the vaccination center for children, according to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Gretchen Cabalang.

Children and dependents of healthcare workers and hospital employees, as well as individuals with medical issues like metabolic disorders, congenital heart disease, TB, kidney problems, and other comorbidities, she said, should be emphasized.

Children with comorbidities like as asthma or cancer, according to Dr. Carmela Macarayan of the Camiguin General Hospital, should first consult their doctor or attending physician before receiving the vaccine.

Vaccine against Camiguin Czar Parents or accompanying guardians must submit a copy of the child’s birth certificate stating their age, a medical certificate from their pediatrician, the child’s school ID, and the accompanying adult’s valid ID, according to Conrado F. Odchigue.
