DAR hands over the P11-M bridge to 6K SoCot inhabitants.

NORALA, Cotabato del Sur β€” The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in this province has handed over a PHP10.9-million bridge project in Purok Manga, Barangay San Jose, to enable better, cheaper, and safer access to their destinations for farmers and other locals.

The Manga Bridge was built in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 12 (Soccsksargen) and the local government of Norala under the Tulay ng Pangulo para sa Kaunlarang Pang-agraryo (TPKP).

The new bridge joins the barangays of Lapuz, Matagol, and Liberty and spans 22.8 linear meters. Over 6,000 people from the three communities would be directly affected.

This bridge, according to DAR-Socsksargen Assistant Regional Director Roldan Ali, would assist farmers move their agricultural products to various trade centers and marketplaces faster, safer, and cheaper.

“I respect the stakeholders’ strong partnership, and I believe that the bridge’s beneficiaries will do their part in strictly maintaining the bridge’s extremely good condition,” he stated in a news release on Sunday.

The beneficiary and partner agencies ceremonially signed a certificate of handover and acceptance, which serves as documentation that the project’s ownership and responsibilities have been officially transferred to the recipients.

Norala Mayor Clemente Fedoc expressed his gratitude to the DAR for the bridge project and pledged to continue to support and assist the department in meeting the needs of farmers and his citizens.

Salvador Floro, Punong Barangay of San Jose, expressed his thanks to the government as well, assuring the department that he would lead his people in completing the project.
