Pangasinan’s LINGAYEN is a town in the province of Pangasinan. As part of the 31st Philippine National Police (PNP) Foundation Day celebration and Valentine’s Day, 150 police officers from the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) volunteered to donate blood.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Pangasinan Chapter has teamed with the PPPO to carry out the program with the theme “Alay na Dugo, Dugtong ng Buhay mo.”

Maj. Katelyne Awingan, PPPO communication officer, stated in an interview that the bloodletting action aims to extend the PNP’s services through blood donation in order to strengthen their cooperation with the community.

The activity, according to Awingan, will supplement the blood supply at the PRC blood bank, which patients can use in an emergency.

“Kundi ang ating mga kababayan lalo na ng mga destitute at mga biglang nagkakaroon ng biglang sakit, hindi lang kapulisan ang nagbe-benefit dito.” For emergency scenarios, pwede silang lumapit sa PNP at matulungan silang makipag-coordinate sa Red Cross (The police are not the only ones who profit from this; our province mates, particularly the poor and the sick, are also beneficiaries.) Roma Baldueza, a police trainee, said she was thrilled to donate blood for the sake of others who needed a transfusion in a separate interview.

“Kahit di ko kilala kung sino ang makakatanggap ng dugong inalay ko, masaya dahil alam kong may matutulungan ako sa simpleng paraan,” she remarked. (
