The Covid-19 vaccine will be given to younger children in Zambales.
On Tuesday, the provincial administration of Zambales will begin vaccinations against the pediatric coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19) for children aged 5 to 11.
The official introduction of the pediatric inoculation will be conducted at Balin Sambali Building Zone 6 in the capital town of Iba from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to Dr. Noel Bueno, chief of the Zambales Provincial Health Office (PHO).
As an added layer of protection against the Covid-19 virus, Bueno advises parents and guardians to have their children vaccinated.
He assured parents that the immunizations are both safe and effective.
During the launch, 500 children would be accommodated, according to a PHO spokesperson.
Children aged 5 to 11 will be injected with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which is the only one approved for emergency use by the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration.
Meanwhile, Bueno stated that the province’s PHO and rural health units (RHUs) are constantly doing walk-in vaccinations.
As of February 13, 352,206 people in Zambales had received their entire vaccination, while 29,535 people were still waiting for their second dosage.
33,628 people, on the other hand, have received their booster shots.
Zambales, along with the six other provinces in Central Luzon, is currently on Alert Level 2 from February 16 to 28 this year due to a decrease in Covid-19 cases.
There are 11,459 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province thus far, including 129 ongoing cases.
