By the end of 2021, PH will have seen roughly 3000 new infections and 481 more recoveries.

After 2,961 new infections on New Year’s Eve, the year 2021 will end with a total of 2,843,979 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 (Covid-19) in the country.

Fresh cases increased by 82.4 percent from Thursday’s 1,623, bringing the total number of current cases to 14,233.

The DOH also reported 481 new recoveries in its Covid-19 update, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,778,242.

There are 8,365 mild cases, 628 asymptomatic cases, 342 critical cases, 1,701 severe cases, and 3,197 moderate cases among the active cases.

“Of the 2,961 instances recorded today, 2,927 (or 99 percent) happened within the last 14 days – December 18 to December 31, 2021,” according to the DOH.

The National Capital Region, with 1,981 cases (68 percent), Calabarzon, with 431 cases (15 percent), and Region 3 with 179 cases (6%), were the top three regions with new cases in the last two weeks, according to the report.

With 132 more deaths, the death toll has risen to 51,504.

The COVIDKaya is a digital application that allows health care professionals to collect and exchange information regarding Covid-19 instances.

The Department of Health has stated that this issue is being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure that information is updated.

On December 29, around 10.3 percent of the 30,526 people who were tested for Covid-19 tested positive, according to DOH data.

“From the total case count, ten duplicates were deleted, seven of which were recoveries and one was death. In addition, 232 instances tested negative and were removed from the total case count, with 230 being recoveries, according to the DOH.

After final validation, 117 cases that were previously labeled as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.

On December 28, two laboratories were unavailable, and six laboratories were unable to transmit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on statistics from the previous 14 days, the eight laboratories provide 0.4 percent of samples tested and 0.3 percent of positive persons, according to the DOH.

Patients with Covid-19 have used 20 percent of 3,500 ICU beds, 22 percent of 19,200 isolation beds, 12 percent of 12,200 ward beds, and 11 percent of 3,000 ventilators nationwide to date.

Meanwhile, in the National Capital Region, 24 percent of 1,200 ICU beds, 21 percent of 4,700 isolation beds, 21 percent of 3,700 ward beds, and 14 percent of 1,000 ventilators are dedicated to patients with Covid-19.
