People in Bacolod have been urged to keep wearing their face masks.
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines โ Even if Alert Level 1 is in effect, Mayor Evelio Leonardia has encouraged citizens to continue wearing face masks as part of the minimum public health standards against coronavirus sickness in 2019. (Covid-19).
“Let us always keep in mind that Covid-19 is still alive and well. He added in a statement on Wednesday that “we still need to utilize face masks because it is still a need under the circumstances.”
After a high vaccination rate and a steady drop in infections in recent weeks, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has placed Bacolod under Warning Level 1, the lowest category in the Covid-19 alert level system, from March 1 to 15.
According to the IATF-EID recommendations, well-fitted face masks must be worn at all times during Alert Level 1.
To help the city maintain the lowest community quarantine rating, Leonardia advised Bacolodnons to continue to follow the Covid-19 health regulations.
“Bacolodnos should not rejoice too soon.” Being at Alert Level 1 is reassuring, and it demonstrates that our policies and practices have been effective,” he added.
The mayor also emphasized the significance of getting vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to be well-protected.
The mayor’s request for sustained vigilance against Covid-19 was reiterated by Em Legaspi Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC-TF).
“Even if there are no limitations, we still need to discipline ourselves,” she remarked.
According to Ang, the EOC-TF will meet with officials from the Department of Education and other relevant agencies to discuss plans to expand the limited face-to-face classes to two more schools in Barangay Alangilan, where public senior high school students have been taking in-person classes since late last year.
“We’ve already transitioned to the new normal.” This is also where, as planned by the local government unit, our transition phase will begin,” she added.
According to data from the Department of Health-Western Visayas, two additional cases were reported in Bacolod on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases to 203. (DOH-6).
