Children’s vaccinations have been halted in Zambo City.
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Due to a shortage of vaccines against the coronavirus disease 2019, the municipal health office has temporarily postponed vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11. (Covid-19).
On Wednesday, city health officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said, “Once we receive the additional supplies, we will resume our activity.”
Since the vaccination for this age group began on February 9, a total of 13,548 children have received their first shot, according to her.
A reformulated Pfizer vaccine brand has been allocated for the youngest pediatric group, according to Miravite.
Meanwhile, she noted that since March 2021, 621,141 people have been fully vaccinated, accounting for 69.30 percent of the target population of 896,200.
She stated that adults made up 530,164 of the 621,141 completely vaccinated people, while children aged 12 to 17 made up the remaining 90,977.
She went on to say that 73,596 adults had received their vaccine booster doses.
She advised everyone who had been fully immunized to seek vaccine boosters for increased protection against Covid-19.
“This (vaccine booster) will prevent us from a serious infection,” Miravite explained.
