According to Isko, the Ukraine crisis serves as a wake-up call for the PHL.

SAMAL, Bataan – The town of SAMAL is located in the province of Bataan. On Wednesday, presidential candidate Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso argued that the situation in Ukraine should serve as a wake-up call for the Philippines.

Moreno stated during his visit here that the country should always be prepared for any eventuality.

“Ang paghahanda ang importante, especially for the possibleng mangyari na hindi naman natin pinapangarap o iniisip na mangyari pero maigi na maging handa,” the Manila mayor remarked in a brief interview.

Moreno expressed concern that such an issue could extend to Taiwan, where there are 150,000 Filipinos.

“Paano mae-evacuate ang mga yon, paano maliligtas ang bawat overseas Filipino worker (Paano mae-evacuate ang mga yon, paano maliligtas ang bawat overseas Filipino worker)?” What happened in Ukraine should serve as a wake-up call that “dapat meron tayong paghahanda (we need to prepare),” he said.

Moreno stated that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is doing the right thing, but that the country must be ready in the event that a crisis in Taiwan arises.

Moreno said he thinks governance to be easy in a letter to his supporters in this town, which includes mayoral candidate Alex Acuzar and vice mayoralty contender Jun Espino.

“Ang pangarap ng tao ay bahay na kung umulan at bumagyo ay may sisilungang sariling iyo, eskwelahan para sa anak at magkaroon ng maayos na laban sa buhay tulad ng ospital para kapag nagkasakit ay may tatakbuhan

Meanwhile, at the Bishop’s chapel in the Saint Joseph Cathedral in Balanga City, Bishop Ruperto C. Santos of the Bataan Diocese gave ashes to Moreno, his vice-presidential running partner Dr. Willie Ong, and senatorial Jopet Sison.

Senatorial candidate Samira Gutoc was also present throughout the Bataan campaign.

Moreno and his company were personally welcomed by the bishop of the Diocese of Balanga, who led a motorcade from Balanga City to Pilar and then to Samal town.
