Bacolod City appreciates the city’s continued Alert Level 1 status.
BACOLOD CITY, PHILIPPINES – The city government here has welcomed the continuation of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) Alert Level 1 status until March 31, as announced Wednesday by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia stated that the city’s economic recovery plan under the new normal will benefit from the lowest category in the Covid-19 alert level system.
“We have arrived at a new normal. This does not mean, however, that the virus has been eradicated. Covid-19 is still present, and we must remain vigilant at all times,” he added.
Bacolod was upgraded from Alert Level 3 to Alert Level 2 in February, and then to Alert Level 1 on March 1 due to a high vaccination rate and a significant decline in infections over the previous several weeks.
Leonardia has lifted the liquor prohibition and shortened curfew hours further under Alert Level 1, which imposes no restrictions on indoor and outdoor gathering capacities.
Daily curfew hours have been extended to midnight to 4 a.m., up from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. previously.
Leonardia commended the people of Bacolod for their cooperation and support in adhering to the Covid-19 health protocols, noting that the city’s placement in the lowest alert category demonstrates that it is on the right track in managing the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data analysis for the Emergency Operations Center Task Force, previously stated that with systems and processes in place to execute the PDITR + V or prevent, detect, isolate, treat, reintegrate + vaccination strategy, the city can undoubtedly move forward in balancing the public’s health and the economy.
Bacolod had 97 active cases and zero new cases as of Tuesday, according to data from the Department of Health-Western Visayas.
