ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Since the commencement of the health pandemic in March 2020, the City Health Office (CHO) has documented a recovery rate of 95.51 percent, or 27,594 people, who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infection.

The city had 28,890 total cases of Covid-19 from the start of the pandemic two years ago until March 21, 2022, according to CHO data, with 27,594 recoveries, 89 active cases, and 1,207 fatalities.

In addition, 86 of the active cases (96.62 percent) were obtained by community transmission; the remaining three were inmates.

The health state of active cases is divided into three categories: asymptomatic (82.5%), mild symptoms (10.5%), and severe (7%).

One hundred and seventy-seven people from the community, four people deprived of their liberty, three detainees, one permitted person outside dwelling, one from the Bureau of Corrections, and one locally stranded individual are among the 1,207 deaths reported.

The city has been placed on Alert Level 1 by the national Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases until March 31.
