Pinoys living overseas are beginning to vote in polls.

MANILA, Philippines — Absentee voting for Filipinos living abroad have begun at various embassies and consulates across the world.

The Philippine Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva posted a photo of Permanent Representatives Evan Garcia and Manuel Teehankee depositing votes to start abroad voting in a tweet.

At the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva, the two voted.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Egypt has received its first absentee ballot and will continue to accept absentee ballots until May 9.

“Every day (including weekends) from 10 April to 09 May 2022, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except for the last day, 09 May, when abroad voting closes at 1 p.m.,” the embassy said in a tweet.

From April 19 to 21, the same embassy will organize an overseas voting mission in Khartoum, Sudan.

In addition, the Philippine Embassy in Singapore declared that overseas voting for the national elections of 2022 has commenced.

In a Facebook post, the Philippine Embassy said, “To make voting faster, more convenient, and safer for all kababayans who are registered voters in Singapore, the Philippine Embassy is happy to announce the launch of an online pre-verification system that they can use during the 30-day voting period.”

New York Consul General Elmer Cato, on the other side, stated that cartons containing election materials had arrived in Memphis, Tennessee from Alaska.

In a tweet, Cato wrote, “@PHinNewYork is hoping that said package will be delivered as soon as possible so that it can begin the abroad voting process.”

Gary Domingo, the Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand, announced in another tweet that boxes holding election votes had arrived at the Philippine Embassy in Wellington.

Overseas Filipinos can vote for a president, vice president, 12 senators, and a party-list group through absentee voting, which began on April 10 and will end on election day, May 9.
