MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo’s campaign is considering legal action in response to social media links to a purported sex video involving Robredo’s eldest daughter Aika.

In a statement released Monday afternoon, Robredo’s spokesperson, Ibarra Gutierrez, called the move a “malicious lie” intended to divert attention away from the vice president’s presidential candidacy.

“This is a malicious fabrication, and we’ve submitted it to the appropriate platforms to get it removed. Our lawyers are considering our legal possibilities “Gutierrez explained.

He believes the distraction ploy’s true objective is to cause strife among Robredo’s supporters, preventing them from recruiting more people to her presidential campaign.

“Hold the line tayo for pag-ibig, kaya nga ang tamang reaction dito. Be tough yet kind in the face of misinformation, even if it’s a kawalanghiya (That’s why this is the proper response: Let us hold the line for love.) Correct misinformation with firmness but kindness, no matter how heinous),” he stated.

He stated that the malicious attack on Aika is a crime.

“Ito ay malinaw na krimen. And here is the paraan for finally talunin ang mga ganito: Manalo tayo sa halalan, ayusin ang sistema, and panagutin ang mga nagkakalat nito (This is plainly a crime. To end this once and for all, we must win elections, repair the system, and punish those who spread it) “he stated

Meanwhile, Robredo urged her supporters to stay focused, emphasizing that “truth is the best antidote to fake news.”

“Let’s not lose sight of what’s important. Let us keep up the fantastic work. This is how I’ve made it through the last six years “In a tweet, Robredo stated.
