Over 1,000 farmers and 240 small business owners have received help from national government organizations totaling over PHP3 million.

240 recipients of financial aid from the Office of the President through the provincial government of Iloilo were given PHP2.4 million to the town of Lambunao, according to acting municipal social welfare officer Althea L. Lacuesta in an interview on Monday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) provided PHP10,000 to each recipient (DSWD).

“They must use the money for their little businesses and means of subsistence. At the distribution, which was conducted at the town sports facility, she added, “We have sari-sari shops and fish vendors here.

Of the six towns in Iloilo that received funding to assist small business owners whose way of life was impacted by the health pandemic, Lambunao received the largest grant.

On the other hand, 175 farmers whose crops were harmed by pests and diseases would receive indemnity from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) on September 16, totaling PHP981,975, according to Lambunao municipal agriculturist Pablito Leal.

He stated in an interview that “typically, they belong to the second cropping last year or the dry season from September 2021 to March 2022.”

According to Leal, PCIC provided insurance coverage for 2,000 hectares this year, with recipients paying only PHP50 for their personal insurance.

Since the allotment has been used up, farmers must now enroll in the normal scheme and pay PHP1,050 per hectare to be insured.

“It is encouraged that people get insurance,” he stated, “if they feel that their crops are vulnerable to damage.”

On September 14–16, 843 inbred palay growers will receive their fertilizer certificates.

The voucher quantity fluctuates because it is based on the palay-planted regions.

Farmers can claim the fertilizers by presenting the voucher to authorized providers.
