Filled hotels in Bacolod for Masskara; anticipated P5-B revenue.

The highlights of the Masskara Festival are already fully booked, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who revealed this on Friday. He predicted PHP5 billion in income for the three-week festival.

“I discovered that it has been fully booked for the past week. 80 to 90% in the first and second weeks. I’ve asked the head of the city tourism office and the department of tourism to do a head count,” he said.

The city aims for 200,000 guests during the entire festival, which runs from October 1 to October 23.

“We anticipate the festival will cause approximately PHP5 billion to enter the system,” he continued.

At the Bacolod City Government Center grounds at midnight on Friday, Benitez will lead city authorities and locals in the countdown to the 43rd Masskara Festival.

“Get ready for the best Masskara ever. This has been in the works for a few months. You can see how positively the public has responded. He said they are expressing curiosity and excitement for Masskara even in Metro Manila and Filipino communities abroad.

An artwork titled “Soaring High: The Power of Imagination” was revealed at the fountain area of the Bacolod City Government Center on Friday in the late afternoon.

The work of art, which consists of six vibrant flying figures, was conceived by contemporary visual artist Charlie Co of Negrense in conjunction with 11 other local artists.

Co’s artwork, which was displayed at the Dubai World Expo last year, inspired “Soaring High.”

He continued that the figures with their right hand on the breast “were meant to emphasize the spirit of nationalism among us.

Let’s highlight our local talents, be proud of our culture, and bring back the joy in Bacolod, Co urged.

While Co painted the main figure, Neil Benavente sculpted the other figures.

“Charlie has demonstrated that Bacolod artists are prepared to compete worldwide. Similar to that, this is a celebration of Masskara, which is well-known worldwide. According to Bry Cervantes, another local artist, we are prepared to soar high and smile once more after two years of living with the pandemic.

The theme of the 2022 Masskara Festival is “Balik Yuhum,” which means “smile again” or “bring back the smile” and alludes to Bacolod’s slogan as the “City of Smiles.”
