The government agency said that Trixie Cruz-Angeles, an attorney, has resigned as Malacanang’s press secretary.

Cruz-Angeles said that she had submitted her resignation for “health reasons” in a statement.

“I submitted my notice of resignation this morning, effective at the close of business today, because of health. Working with you was enjoyable, she stated in a statement.

Hubert Guevara, senior deputy executive secretary, announced Cruz-Angeles’ resignation due to “medical issues” in an interview with a small group of journalists.

Although Guevara did not elaborate, she said that Cruz-Angeles’ resignation would give her time to put her health first.

She submitted her letter of resignation today. He added that we’re still working on helping the Office deal with her resignation from today.

Guevara claimed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has not yet named a successor.

There is still no new press secretary, Wala pa hong bagong. We will hopefully have a new press secretary soon, he continued.

Following Cruz-Angeles’ departure, he said Marcos sent her a “thank you a message.”

Following Marcos’ working visit to the US from September 18 to 24, rumors about Cruz-Angeles’ resignation from her position started to spread.

Cruz-Angeles is the second member of the Cabinet to quit since Vic Rodriguez declared on September 17 that he was giving up his position as executive secretary but would remain as Marcos’ chief of staff.

Lucas Bersamin, retired chief justice of the Supreme Court, took over for Rodriguez.

At least ten members of Marcos’ Cabinet who had not received the approval of the Commission on Appointments had their ad interim appointments renewed on Tuesday morning.

However, Cruz-Angeles and Secretary of Information and Communications Technology Ivan John Uy were not listed on the OPS’s list of reappointed Cabinet secretaries.
