On Thursday, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) announced that two of its two S-70i “Black Hawk” combat utility helicopters had been sent to Southern Luzon to perform a rapid assessment and requirements analysis (RDANA).

Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo, a spokesperson for the PAF, said in a statement that the RDANA in the region was carried out on November 1.

The acting commander of Southern Luzon Command, Brig. Gen. Armand M. Arevalo, and the commander of Joint Task Force Katagalugan, Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong, were among those onboard to inspect damages in their respective areas of responsibility, including the collapsed Bantilan Bridge connecting San Juan, Batangas, and Sariaya, Quezon, she continued.

Castillo added that a group from the Office of Civil Defense 5, Tactical Operations Group 5, and Southern Luzon Tactical Operations Wing conducted RDANA over the impacted provinces of Catanduanes and Camarines Sur in the Bicol Region.

“The PAF remains committed to its combined efforts with area commands and local government units in providing assistance during times of calamity,” she continued, using all of its people and air assets.
