According to the meteorological service, a low-pressure area (LPA) that was last monitored 445 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, will deliver rainfall to the Visayas and Mindanao on Monday.

“We expect the LPA to reach the Visayas and Mindanao areas and generate showers, even if it has a slim possibility of developing into a tropical cyclone,” said weather forecaster Grace Castaeda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Residents in these locations should take measures and be on the lookout for probable flooding and landslides, according to Castaeda.

“They are also encouraged to be informed and track updates from PAGASA regional offices,” she added.

On Monday, the trough of LPA is expected to bring rain showers and thunderstorms to the Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Regions.

According to PAGASA, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to cause flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, over Metro Manila and the remainder of the country, isolated rain showers generated by localized thunderstorms will prevail.

Over northern Luzon, eastern central Luzon, southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, moderate to high winds and moderate to rough seas are expected.

Winds will be light to moderate elsewhere, with modest to moderate seas.
