Due to an increase in dengue fever cases in the hamlet, the City Health Office (CHO) executed a search and destroy strategy and applied larvicide on Saturday in Barangay Putik.

In a statement, Dr. Cathy Garcia, assistant municipal health officer, claimed that Barangay Putik is one of the city’s dengue hotspots.

Garcia, on the other hand, could not indicate how many dengue fever cases the village has, only that the CHO has registered a total of 123 dengue fever cases in various barangays, including two deaths, since January of this year.

She urged people to participate in the “4S” campaign against dengue fever, which includes searching for and destroying mosquito breeding sites, taking self-protective measures, seeking early advice, and refusing indiscriminate fogging.

Dengue is spread by mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, which can lay eggs in any place or container that holds clear and stagnant water, such as a bottle cap or a dish drying.

Garcia recommended parents seek medical help as soon as their children show signs of dengue fever to avoid future difficulties.
