In Bacoor, around 1.4K housing units will serve informal settlers.
More than 1,400 informal settler families (ISFs) would benefit from a newly constructed government housing project in Bacoor, Cavite, according to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
Families living in risk zones and accident-prone locations in Bacoor City are among the beneficiaries, according to DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario.
The inspection and ceremonial turnover of the new residences under “the Ciudad de Strike Phase I,” the government’s third low-rise housing project in Barangay Molino, was graced by del Rosario on Tuesday.
The housing project was made possible by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), in collaboration with the Bacoor local government, through its Community Mortgage Program.
“Masasabi po natin para po sa inyo ang pinakamaganda at pinakamahalagang Christmas gift na maibibigay ng Bacoor City LGU, na magkaroon kayo ng isang housing settlement na masasabi nating disente, affordable at sustainable (I can say that the greatest and most valuable Christmas gift that Bacoor-LGU could give is to provide you with a decent,
Del Rosario explained that the project is part of the government’s resettlement program, and that it is being carried out in close collaboration with local government units, which offer subsidized housing rates to beneficiaries.
“Pinababa po namin nang husto ang interest rate dahil yan po ang utos sa ating mahal na Pangulo to ensure na tulungan ang ating mga kababayan (We dramatically cut the interest rate since it is our President’s order to ensure that we support our people),” he added.
“Housing is a right of every Filipino family,” said the housing czar, “and it is the Department’s job to capacitate the poor in having access to quality and cheap housing, as well as assure that no sub-standard housing project is created under the Duterte administration.”
During the event, Del Rosario was joined by SHFC president Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling, Cavite 2nd Rep. Strike Revilla, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, other local leaders, and housing grantees.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (DSHD) and its main shelter agencies have been pushing for quality, cheap, and sustainable housing projects for Filipinos, including the recently handed over 374 houses for ISFs in Quezon and Malabon, both in high-density housing structures.
