The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Friday the completion of six road enhancement projects in the Nueva Ecija municipalities of San Isidro and Cabiao, which will give motorists and commuters faster and more convenient travel.

Two asphalt overlay and two road reblocking projects in different sections of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA), a high-volume road, and two local road concreting projects were completed under the DPWH-Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office’s 2021 budget, according to Engineer Elpidio Y. Trinidad, head of the DPWH-Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office.

Trinidad identified the need for an asphalt overlay project on a 5.7174-lane-kilometer segment of one of Nueva Ecija’s main roadways to prevent premature pavement deterioration caused by heavy vehicle traffic.

“Repairs have also been carried out on the damaged sections of the road, totaling 3.977 lane kilometers because the deteriorating pavements along JASA have been a source of complaints in recent years,” he said on social media.

Meanwhile, a DPWH official noted that the concreting of two local roads totaling 1.452 lane kilometers is part of the agency’s road restoration program in the barangays.

In Nueva Ecija, the DPWH has been conducting several road repair projects in support of the government’s goal of improving mobility along key corridors in order to increase economic activity.

The DPWH-Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office completed the upgrading of local roads in the towns of Jaen and General Tinio in November, in support of the government’s goal of improving transportation along the areas to stimulate economic activity.

Residents will have easier access to local markets and other government services, including as health centers, educational institutions, public transportation, and other public utilities, according to Trinidad.
