In the face of a pandemic, the BG party-list calls for heroic acts.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Bisaya Gyud (BG) party list joined the country’s celebration of the bravery of troops who battled for independence during World War II on Saturday, and asked Filipinos to show heroism in whatever way they can during this difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alelee Aguilar-Andanar, the first nominee, said BG respects the heroism of the country’s fallen warriors.

“Kinikilala po namin ang kanilang kabayanihan at sakripisyo para tayo ay mapalaya sa isa sa pinakadilim na yugto ng ating kasaysayan,” Andanar said in a statement.

“Ngayong araw, ating sariwain ang kanilang katapangan na hindi masusukat ninuman, at kailangang pamarisan ng bawat Pilipino,” she said.

Andanar hopes that the memories of Filipino soldiers would serve as an inspiration as the country battles the epidemic’s impacts, encouraging everyone to do their courageous part and contribute to the country’s unity and collaboration in the fight against the pandemic and other societal issues.

Filipinos, she continued, are known for pushing for peace, food for all, education, and a rich lifestyle.

Andanar also encouraged people a month before the 2022 elections to vote as a demonstration of courage and support for the democracy that past generations struggled for.

“Hindi man digmaan ang ating nilalabanan ngayon, kabayanihan naman ang ipaglaban ang kinabukasan ng ating susunod na henerasyon (We may not be fighting a war, but fighting for the next generation is heroism just the same),” she remarked.

Each voter will select one party list in the May 9 elections.

According to the law, each party that receives 2% of national votes is entitled to one seat, with an additional seat for every 2% of the vote received after that, up to a maximum of three seats.

This means that if a party receives more than 6% of the national vote, it can win up to three seats.

Each party-list representative serves a three-year term in the House of Representatives, much like the rest of the MPs.
