Panelo and Langit concede defeat in the Senate.

MANILA, Philippines โ€” Senatorial candidates Salvador Panelo and Rey Langit admitted loss in this year’s elections on Tuesday.

This comes after a partial and unofficial count of vote results revealed that Panelo and Langit were not among the top 12 senatorial candidates.

“The people have spoken, and everyone should respect the judgment,” Panelo stated in a statement to the press. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who supported our candidacy and causes. We are honored to have your support, and you motivate us to keep our commitments in new ways.”

Langit thanked everyone who believed in him and supported his candidacy in a separate statement.

“Ang ating halalan’s involvement ay nagsilbing inspirasyon namin upang ipagpatuloy pa ang aming hangaring maglingkod sa Bayan.” Ang lahat na ito ay para sa ating mamamayang Filipino at sa ating minamahal na Inang Bayan (Your participation in our elections inspires us to continue working toward our aim of serving the country.) We did it for our country and our fellow Filipinos),” he stated. “Makakaasa kayo na sa anumang laban, kasangga mo ang Langit (You may count on me to be here at all times).”

Panelo and Langit were members of the ruling party’s “Solid 5” senatorial candidates, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Robin Padilla, Greco Belgica, and Astra Pimentel are among the other PDP-Laban senatorial candidates.

According to the unofficial total of votes released by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, Padilla emerged as the top option among all senatorial candidates, while the four remaining PDP-Laban senatorial hopefuls failed to make the Senate’s “Magic 12.” (PPCRV).

Padilla’s likely victory in the senatorial elections was welcomed by Panelo and Langit.

According to the incomplete and unofficial vote count, they also voiced support for the UniTeam presidential-vice presidential tandem of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte, who are leading the presidential and vice presidential contests.

“Congratulations to Bongbong Marcos, Sara Duterte, and Robin Padilla, our next set of leaders!” It was an honor and a pleasure to fight alongside and for you! Panelo stated, “May you repay the unprecedented mandate granted to you with unsurpassed service to the Filipino.”

Despite his defeat, Langit stated that he will continue to support the winning candidates.

Panelo, too, urged unity in order to secure the country’s “beautiful future.”

“We cannot prolong the divisive and disruptive political schism.” “The time has come for all forces to come together to help this country emerge from the ashes of the pandemic that has brought our economy to its knees,” he stated.
