MMDA: The first day of the ADB meeting was “calm and orderly.”
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that the opening day of the 55th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Mandaluyong City on Monday was “calm and quiet” and that traffic flowed well (MMDA).
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and MMDA staff members will keep an eye on the ADB event at its headquarters in Ortigas Center from Monday until it concludes on Friday, according to a statement from MMDA Acting Chair Carlo DImayuga III.
The National Capital Region (NCR) will benefit from increased economic activity and tourism due to the PNP, MMDA, and concerned local government units, according to Dimayuga.
Along with numerous heads of state, at least 350 participants from ADB member countries and government organizations will attend the conference.
While hosting the annual meeting, “we aim to provide the ADB delegates with a good and secure stay,” he stated.
To assist delegates in getting from the airport to their hotels, venues, and other engagement places “with the least inconvenience to the general public,” about 500 MMDA staff members have been stationed along the ADB-designated route.
He explained, “[We] are responsible for traffic management, closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring, emergency planning and response, road safety, road clearing and cleaning activities, and flood mitigation.
Along Saint Francis and Bank Drive, an ADB special lane was also used on Wednesday and Thursday.
He claimed the main routes of the delegation convoys also used the EDSA Busway Carousel Lane.
The MMDA road emergency group, the Office of Civil Defense, the Department of Health, and the Bureau of Fire Protection are on standby in these regions to give emergency assistance.
Along the ADB routes, traffic management has also been done by PNP, Mandaluyong, and Pasig local government officials, as well as by the security forces of the Ortigas Center.
In the first of its two-part 55th annual meeting, the ADB Board of Governors approved the financial accounts and distribution of net income for 2021.
The meeting was divided into two halves to better address the issues brought on by the Covid-19 epidemic.
