1,582 Zambo farmers are awaiting rewards for land ownership.
The Department of Agrarian Reform is expected to present certificates of land ownership awards (CLOAs) to a total of 1,582 farmers on the Zamboanga Peninsula on Tuesday.
DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III will oversee the distribution of CLOAs, which will cover a total of 2,653 hectares of agricultural land in the province, according to a statement made on Monday.
“For distribution are 819 CLOAs in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay covering 1,373 hectares of land benefiting 764 ARBs; Zamboanga del Sur with 441 CLOAs covering 628 hectares benefiting 441 ARBs; and Zamboanga del Norte with 403 CLOAs covering an area of 652 hectares benefiting 377 ARBs,” Estrella said.
In addition to the CLOAs, Estrella will provide the recipients of the agricultural reform with support services valued at about PHP8.6 million, including buildings, machinery, and farm equipment.
For beneficiary organizations of the Zamboanga del Sur agrarian reform, this includes two units of processing centers, two units of water tank collectors, a vermiculture production facility, three units of three-wheel multipurpose motorcycles with canopies, a hauling truck, and a unit of corn sheller, with a total cost of PHP3.34 million (ARBOs).
In Zamboanga Sibugay, support services worth PHP2.75 million will be dispersed, including two multipurpose structures, five power tillers with full implement and tiller sets, a rice thresher, a mud boat with full tool sets, and a water tank collector.
For a total of PHP2.60 million, the ARBOs from Zamboanga del Norte would receive a hauling truck, storehouse, forage shredder, vermi shade, five heads of cattle, four egg machines, and a rainwater collection.
Estrella stated that the DAR’s Climate Resilience Farm Productivity Support Program, Village Level Farm-Focused Enterprise Development Project, and the Convergence on Value Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment (Project Converge) are all implementing these support services to assist farmers in becoming more productive.
“This action is in keeping with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s command to enhance the agricultural sector in rural areas and better the lives of farmers in this area,” he stated.
