The protection of OFWs is the Marcos administration’s top priority, according to the CFO

One of the top goals of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration is the protection of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other abroad Filipinos.

Abdulgani Macatoman, the officer-in-charge of the Commission for Filipinos Overseas (CFO), promised to step up his organization’s efforts to protect migrant workers and their families during the National Forum on Migration, which brought together migrant workers and their families on Thursday to commemorate OFW Month.

Our dear President Bongbong Marcos has prioritized protecting our kababayans abroad, and we will keep putting measures in place to do that, Macatoman stated.

He stated that the government anticipates expediting the resolution of OFW complaints through the recently established Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

Pre-departure seminars will be conducted better in order to better inform and acquaint Filipinos who are traveling abroad to work with the cultures of their host nations.

Macatoman highlighted the significant contributions made by OFWs living abroad to nation-building in the Philippines through the overseas remittances that support the country’s economy.

He declared, “This Administration genuinely wishes to address the issues of OFWs.

Some OFWs recounted their experiences of living and working overseas during the event.

Marcos promised to spend more on infrastructure, the digital economy, and human capital development in order to increase employment in the nation during a recent meeting with the Filipino community in Brussels, Belgium while attending the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit.

As there are no jobs available in the Philippines, “Sana naman dumating ang panahon, and ito ang ating pangarap na wala ng kailangan umalis ng Pilipinas. Aabutin din natin ‘yan (Hopefully the day will come when nobody will need to leave the Philippines since there are no jobs there. This is our dream. We will accomplish that as well),” Marcos assured the Filipino population in Europe.
