A Thai company plans to invest an additional P1 billion in Central Mindanao.

A major Thai agriculture company plans to invest an additional PHP1 billion in Central Mindanao’s poultry and cattle industries.

Former agriculture secretary Emmanuel Pinol wrote on Facebook on Thursday that Charoen Pokphand Foods (CP) Foods Philippines, the largest agricultural company in Thailand, will invest heavily in the agriculture industry.

“A large firm deserves support, especially because they are receiving their raw materials from local farmers when they invest PHP1 billion in poultry and hogs despite the threat of African swine fever and avian flu,” he said.

The head of the livestock feed mill for CP Foods Philippines, Sompong Rojanaadisorn, stated the company requires a number of agricultural items for their feed mill operations.

Products such as clean, dry corn with a moisture percentage of 14%, clean, dry sorghum with a moisture content of 13%, and cubed cassava are required (14 percent moisture content).

Bayer Philippines was enlisted to provide high-quality seeds for corn cultivation.

Although Southseas Agri-Aqua Ventures Inc. mostly produces sorghum, Pinol stated that the company might start making contributions to the program once it reached a planted area of 500 hectares per month.

He claimed that North Cotabato’s cassava crop producers would meet CPF Phils. Feed Mill’s demand for cassava cube cuts.

In an earlier statement, Pinol said that during a meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Bangkok, Thailand, CP Group promised to increase its investments in the Philippines’ aquaculture, rice, and swine production.

Officials from the CP Group indicated an interest in working with the Philippines on projects involving aquaculture, swine, rice, and corn as well as in developing the value chains of those industries to connect them to regional customers.

The largest private corporation in Thailand, CP Group, has a $2 billion investment in the Philippines.
