According to a recently released analysis, Covid-19 has made matters worse for the US healthcare system, which was already under pressure from winter illnesses even before the epidemic and could put it in danger for years to come.

Historically, seasonal infections like respiratory syncytial virus and influenza put pressure on the healthcare system during the winter.

The Washington Post newspaper described the viruses as an “unholy trifecta of infections that increase in the cold months” after the discovery of Covid-19, though.

As a result, some hospitals have been compelled to delay other life-saving procedures. According to Ashish Jha, the White House’s Covid-19 Response Coordinator, the current healthcare system may falter as a result of the pressures being applied.

Because we’ll be so overrun with respiratory viruses for three or four months out of the year, Jha told the Post, “I am worried that we are going to have, for years, our health system being pretty dysfunctional, not being able to take care of heart attack patients, not being able to take care of cancer patients, not being able to take care of the kid who’s got appendicitis.”

Because this has been perceived as an urgent issue, Jha said, “I just think people have not realized the chronic cost.” “We have no idea how difficult life will be for everyone, for a very long time.”

However, a different official who spoke to the newspaper under anonymity was less certain that Jha’s analysis would be confirmed.

The official remarked, “It’s not an unreasonable hypothesis.” “However, I don’t believe that sickness has reached a stable condition at which we can predict with certainty what will happen year after year. It moves quickly.

“We all concur that the virus is mutating more quickly than we anticipated. Simply put, we are unsure of the virus’s direction. Even today, we don’t know what the upcoming three weeks will bring “the official added.
