LEGAZPI CITY, PHILIPPINES – Commuters, and motorists were serenaded by police and given flowers, chocolates, and balloons in front of the Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) headquarters in Camp Gen. Simeon Ola on Monday morning.

In an interview, Maj. Malu Calubaquib, a PRO5 spokesperson, claimed the activity is part of their Valentine’s Day celebration.

“Police hailed automobiles not to give tickets but to provide free roses, heart-shaped balloons, and chocolates,” Calubaquib said, adding that the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division was in charge of the operation.

She stated that the “Kasurog” cops aim to provide happiness to Bicolanos despite the pandemic’s problems, particularly on Valentine’s Day.

“Mula sa nagpipitagang tauhan ng PRO5, ang aming pagbati ng Maligayang Araw ng mga Puso sa bawat isa sainyo,” PRO5 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo stated in a statement. Nawa’y laging mangibabaw ang pagmamahalan sa atin na siyang pinaka-ugat ng pagkakaisa tungo sa pagkamit ng ating mithiin para sa isang ligtas, tahimik at progresibong komunidad sa isang ligtas, tahimik at progresibong May the love that is the foundation of our togetherness in the pursuit of our common goal of a secure, peaceful, and progressive community always triumph)”.

The recipients of the flowers, balloons, and chocolates were pleasantly surprised and grateful for the officers’ kindness.

Meanwhile, the Naval Forces Southern Luzon (Navforsol) Band serenaded shoppers at SM City Legazpi, while winners of Representative Joey Salceda’s “Ang Sir Kong Pogi” competition for men in uniform handed out flowers to the public at random.
