PBBM plans to introduce a P1-B housing subsidy.

On Tuesday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. revealed that the recipients of the government’s low-cost housing units will get a PHP1 billion housing subsidy fund.

At the Batasan Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association (BaTODA) Terminal in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, Marcos made the announcement during the groundbreaking ceremony for the housing project under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program and walkthrough of the Batasan Development Renewal Plan.

He claimed that he and the Secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Jose Rizalino Acuzar, are looking into the possibility of setting up a fund to provide subsidies to recipients who are unable to pay the monthly amortization of their housing units.

As he reiterated his commitment to providing “good and reasonable housing for every Filipino family,” Marcos stated that “we are still left with the fact that many of our recipients will still not be able to afford the monthly amortization of these units.”

“Secretary Acuzar is proposing to provide this amount as a subsidy for our housing initiative. Assuredly, if you want to establish a subsidy fund for our housing program, you should start by setting aside PHP1 billion. Secretary Acuzar and I are currently looking into the potential of doing so. If we are able to secure money, we might set aside PHP 1 billion to begin providing subsidies to our prospective tenants “Added he.

Marcos commended the Quezon City local government for its assistance, support, and allocation of land and financial resources for the housing project as well as the DHSUD for overseeing the national government’s flagship housing program.

In the upcoming years, he hoped that Congress will heed his call to include housing interest support in the regular expenditures.

According to Marcos, “the government is committed to securing the necessary housing interest support for 2023.” I now request the cooperation of Congress, asking that housing interest funding be included in the normal appropriations for the ensuing years.

He highlighted that his administration’s goal of creating “better, more resilient, and more equitable communities” will be realized with the establishment of sustainable human settlements.

Three key sites at the Batasan Road Development, NGC-West Controlled Economic Zone, and the Manotoc Property will be finished as part of the Batasan Development Urban Renewal Master Plan, which is being led by the DHSUD.

Two 33-story buildings will be built as part of the first phase of the Batasan area’s rehabilitation, totaling 2,160 housing units that will be used for both commercial and residential purposes.

The biggest Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association in the Philippines, BaTODA, would use the lot’s ground floor as part of the proposed plans to upgrade the terminal.

One of the project’s top beneficiaries will be the BaTODA members. The official launch of the first phase of the Batasan Development Urban Renewal Plan, according to Marcos, is “just the beginning of one of the major projects” under the nation’s premier housing initiative.

The aim of providing a quality and inexpensive home for every Filipino family, he added, is one of the nation’s “highest hopes,” and it will be realized “slowly but definitely.”

“Those who live here and in the neighboring areas will have full access to marketplaces, schools, hospitals, and many sources of income, so they can prosper and be able to realize their aspirations and ambitions.”
