Beginning of the Spanish air traffic controllers’ strike

On Monday, 162 workers in Spain’s air traffic control sector walked off the job to start a weekly walkout.

The strike will take place every Monday for 24 hours starting today until February 27 and will affect 16 airports, as previously stated by the Air Traffic Controllers Union (USCA) and another union.

The decision to go on strike was made after recent talks with employers broke down without a resolution to the union’s demands for an increase in the consumer price index (CPI) and the removal of a 12–15% salary decrease.

28 percent of all Spanish aviation traffic is anticipated to be impacted by the weekly strike in total.

A Coruna, Valencia, Seville, Cuatro Vientos, Castellon, Alicante-Elche, Vigo, Lanzarote, La Palma, Ibiza, Jerez, Fuerteventura, El Hierro, Lleida, Sabadell, and Murcia are among the cities where the strike will damage the towers.
