Local government units (LGUs) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will establish satellite subscriber identity…

About 500 SIM registrations in Romblon town are helped by NTC.

On Wednesday, 516 SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) registrants were assisted by the National Telecommunications Commission in Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (NTC-Mimaropa) at a covered court in Looc town, Romblon province, as part of the “Assistive SIM Registration.”
The whole day Facilitated SIM Registration (FSR) program was also earlier held in Baco town, Oriental Mindoro province (242 assisted); Gasan town, Marinduque (269); Sablayan town, Occidental Mindoro (502); Naujan, Oriental Mindoro (204); and Alcantara town, Romblon (313) according to Engr. Milagros Bersamina, head of NTC-enforcement Mimaropa’s and operations division.
According to Bersamina, SIM registration will take place in Odiongan, Romblon, on Thursday, bringing the total number of SIM holders in Mimaropa to over 2,000.
To make sure that the law is implemented on schedule, the government-led assisted registration program in designated geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs) was created.
In order to encourage accountability among mobile device users and provide law enforcement with an identification tool for resolving crimes involving the use of cell phones, Republic Act 11934, also known as the SIM Registration Act, requires the registration of SIM cards among users of both prepaid and postpaid mobile devices.
Help has been provided to customers who are having trouble registering their SIM cards for a variety of reasons, such as their geographic areas, by the NTC, Department of Information and Communications Technologies (DICT), Globe, and Smart telecoms.
