5.1K indigents receive P34-M help from PCSO in just 5 days.
According to a report published on Sunday by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), from February 13 to February 17, 5,184 qualified applicants nationwide received PHP34 million in medical aid.
The state lottery department stated in a statement that the monies were distributed to recipients through its Medical Access Program, citing its most recent data (MAP).
Among the recipients are 636 needy residents of the National Capital Area, who received PHP7.8 million in aid, 1,160 residents of Northern and Central Luzon, who received PHP7.9 million, and 1,416 residents of Southern Tagalog and Bicol, who received PHP6.7 million.
1,042 people in the Visayas received PHP6.6 million in medical assistance, while 930 people in Mindanao received PHP5 million.
The Individual Medical Assistance Program was replaced by the MAP, which increases medical aid for destitute Filipinos, particularly for hospitalization, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medications.
All around the country, PCSO game profits are used to support the program.
