In recognition of the legacy of Fidel V. Ramos, the nation’s 12th president, the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) has developed the nation’s first online Presidential Library.

The launch was staged on Ramos’ 95th birthday, which fell on a Saturday at the NMP building in Manila.

On July 31, 2022, he passed away.

The FVR Presidential Library is the primary repository for the extensive body of works and significant materials produced throughout his public life. It provides documentation of FVR’s life and leadership as a soldier and statesman.

The materials are intended to assist students and academics in their work, encourage future Filipino generations worldwide, and add to the ongoing history of the global community.

More than 16,000 videotapes, 10,000 documents, 100 steel filing cabinets, and 21,000 presidential pictures were converted into digital format over the course of three phases.

In order to donate the huge collection of books and memorials to particular public schools, foundations, and project partners, they were categorized and divided.

The FVR Oral History interviews, including presidential speeches, are available on the FVR Legacy channel on YouTube. The FVR Online Presidential Library can be accessed at https://www.fvrlegacy.org.

As a young 2nd lieutenant in the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK) during the Korean War, Ramos, a 1950 graduate of the American military academy West Point, displayed his bravery in battle when he led his men in the capture of Eerie Hill, a heavily fortified camp held by Chinese forces after close combat.

Ramos served as a volunteer for the Filipino Civic Action Group during the Vietnam War and assisted Vietnamese people who had been uprooted by the conflict.

Ramos served as president from 1992 to 1998 and was renowned for his personal touch.
