The start of Holy Week is on Sunday, April 2, and Catholic priests on Saturday urged the faithful to the Palm Sunday Mass.

The Quiapo Church’s spokesperson, Fr. Earl Valdez, stated that on Sunday, regular Mass times will be observed.

The Grand Entry, which commemorates the Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem, is performed during the first Mass, even though we just have a regular Mass schedule. In a message to reporters, he said that the triumphal entry was similar to a reenactment.

Every Sunday, there are hourly Masses at the Quiapo Church from 4 a.m. to noon and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to Valdez, “Today is the start of the Holy Day that commemorates the arrival or return of Jesus to Jerusalem where he would face his suffering and death on the Cross, towards the Resurrection.”

Health precautions were also emphasized by Fr. Jerome Secillano, executive secretary of the CBCP-PAC (Public Affairs Committee of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines).

“We celebrate Masses and palm blessings. They have the option of attending while wearing a mask or taking it off. It’s their decision. Some dioceses now allow receiving communion orally. It’s still done by hand in other dioceses,” he remarked.

The devout, according to Secillano, must accept Jesus into their lives.

Christ safeguards us as our Lord and Savior. Even when circumstances are challenging, do not question Him. Cling fast to Him in all circumstances because, at the end of the day, He is the only one who can grant us eternal life with God. (
