In just three months, “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” makes over P5 million.
This year, six locations of the two-day “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” trade fairs made nearly PHP5 million.
At the Saturday News Forum in Quezon City, Junibert de Sagun, the director of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Market Development Division, revealed that Cebu, Manila, Batangas, Quezon City, Camarines Sur, and Bataan collectively received more than PHP5.3 million.
Since sales rise with each event, it is very difficult for the organizers. So, it appears that there is no time to be idle because one must earn more than the competition, according to de Sagun.
Farmer cooperatives and government organizations such as the Office of the President, DA, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, and local government units take part in the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” initiative.
Additionally, there are 400 additional regular Kadiwa locations nationwide and at least 60 in Metro Manila.
According to de Sagun, farmers from Benguet, Nueva Ecija, and Quezon are the top suppliers of rice and vegetables.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave the DTI and DILG instructions to expand the scope of the trade fair at the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” launch on Friday in Limay, Bataan.
He said in his speech, “We will put up more of Kadiwa even in remote locations because every single one of us here in the Philippines needs assistance. Pararamihin natin ito para kahit sa malalayo, sa mga lupalop ay makakaabot ang Kadiwa.”
The government, according to Marcos, is working to increase agricultural productivity and lessen the nation’s dependency on imports in order to stabilize the pricing of essential items as more Kadiwa stores are opened.
