The government will host employment fairs, Kadiwa caravans, and charity drives on Labor Day.
Three significant events will be held by government organizations under the direction of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on May 1 in honor of Filipino workers as part of the 121st Labor Day observance.
The DOLE announced on Tuesday that during the commemoration early next month, it will highlight the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, the awarding of government support to employees, and the holding of statewide simultaneous job fairs.
The National Capital Region (NCR) will serve as the primary event location, with the activities taking place at 16 regional locations.
In collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture, the labor department will hold the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa to assist employees in obtaining goods at lower costs (DA).
With the help of Kadiwa, an initiative led by DA, the farming community may sell commodities directly to customers instead of via trader-intermediaries, generating better profits while still providing consumers with high-quality goods at competitive prices.
Additionally, the DOLE will oversee the distribution of financial aid and salaries to the recipients of the Government Internship Program (GIP), Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) programs across the various regions.
“Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino” is the theme for Labor Day this year.
On the other hand, countrywide SM and Robinsons malls will have concurrent job fairs, with the National Capital Region serving as the primary location.
The locations and number of positions will be revealed later.
The DOLE advises job searchers to have their application materials on hand, including their résumé or curriculum vitae, diploma, transcript of records, and certificate of employment for those who have previously held a job.
During the event, services will be provided by other government organizations such as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG, Philhealth, and Philippine Postal Corporation.
