Laban TNVS and other stakeholders have been called to a discussion by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to express their concerns regarding the anticipated introduction of 10,300 slots for transport network vehicle services (TNVS).

Teofilo Guadiz III, the chair of the LTFRB, stated in a statement on Wednesday that his office is accessible to these organizations and would welcome discussions about their ideas.

The resolution of any issue can be aided by an honest and true discourse, and we will always welcome that, Guadiz stated.

The LTFRB decided to open 10,300 extra TNVS slots in Metro Manila, including the area covered by the Metro Manila Urban Transportation Integration Study Update and Capacity Enhancement Project (MUCEP), despite Laban TNVS’s protests.

Laban TNVS welcomed the LTFRB’s invitation for discussion if additional stakeholders, including TNVS firms like Grab and Joyride, other stakeholders, and the media, are in attendance during a press briefing.

They stated that they are opposed to creating extra spaces because there are colorum or illegal TNVS drivers and because there are TNVS applications that have not yet been granted.

Laban TNVS stated last week that there are now enough TNVS units available to meet commuter demand, despite many drivers lamenting a lack of passengers.

Instead, it demanded a review of the quantity of TNVS units already in existence and the renewal of operating permissions.
