An international organization has honored the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for its work in finishing transportation projects that improve the economy and safety of the nation.

Jaime Bautista, secretary of the Department of Transportation, was presented with the “International Recognition and Global Gratitude Award” by the Good Stories Movement on Wednesday at the Ramon Magsaysay Center in Manila, during the movement’s national premiere.

In his acceptance address, Bautista stated that the DOTr is dedicated to constructing environmentally sustainable transportation projects that promote mobility, lower traffic congestion, and improve quality of life.

The Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) Busway and the Active Transport Program, which encourages the use of buses and bicycles as alternate modes of transportation, are two instances of these projects that he gave as examples.

In addition, he claimed that more than 500 kilometers of bike lanes had been built around the nation, including more than nine kilometers in Manila’s Intramuros neighborhood.

He stated, “We want travelers to support cycling tourism.

Additionally, Bautista stated that the DOTr is funding rail projects since trains have lower carbon emissions than other modes of transportation.

According to him, these initiatives are a part of the DOTr’s mission to offer all Filipinos access to safe, dependable, and sustainable transportation networks.

The Good Stories Movement is a movement that celebrates the inspiring tales of people who protect the environment. On April 22, it was launched in the nation in observance of Earth Day.

The Asia Pacific Center for Environmental Law, Environmental Law Program, University of Hawaii, and Normandy Chair, along with the International Council for Environmental Law Madrid and New York, Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (IGSD), Washington D.C. and Paris, coordinated the event.
