According to the Department of Health (DOH), the World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet confirmed “sticky eyes” or conjunctivitis as a symptom of the XBB.1.1.6 Omicron or Arcturus subvariant.

The DOH informed reporters over Viber that Covid-19 “generally exhibits flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, headache, body pain, and diarrhea, among others.”

Along with the well-known flu-like symptoms, other symptoms may differ from case to case, according to the DOH.

“Studies on the potential effects the virus may have are ongoing. It is crucial that cases remain controllable, it stated.

In its most recent surveillance report on Tuesday, the DOH noted the first instance of XBB.1.1.6 Omicron subvariant in the nation.

The patient was asymptomatic and had already made a full recovery.

The DOH also discovered an additional 85 Covid-19 variations.

A total of 39 subvariants were found to be XBB (14 were XBB.1.9.1, 13 were XBB.1.5, one was XBB.1.16, and the rest were different XBB sublineages).

There were 28 instances classified as BA.2.3.20, 12 cases as BA.5, and 3 cases as XBC.

Those that remained belonged to “other Omicron sublineages.”

With 1,861 cases reported to date, the XBB subvariant continues to be the most prevalent strain nationwide. The XBC is next with a total of 764 cases.

The DOH recommended the general people to seek medical advice or go to the closest medical facility for an accurate diagnosis of symptoms.

“Continue using sufficient ventilation, appropriate sanitation, masking, and distance-keeping to help stop the spread of Covid-19. The best defense against severe COVID-19, it continued, is vaccination.
