As travel restrictions have been loosened and the island of Kandiwata, also known as “Little Palawan,” has grown in popularity, the local government unit of Daram, Samar anticipates an increase in tourists this summer.

According to Nathan Abinguna, a tourism officer, the number of visitors to Daram town has significantly increased over the first three months of the year.

From January to March 2023, the site hosted 1,114 visitors, nearly a 100% increase from the 685 tourists that visited during the first quarter of 2022.

Since we have not yet entered the peak season, we anticipate the trend to last until June, according to Abinguna.

In order to get the most out of their visit to the islet, he suggested that guests make reservations ahead of time, especially if they intended to use the floating houses.

Reservations can be made by calling the tourism office at 0968-875-3003 or leaving a message on the Facebook page for the Daram Tourism Office.

Until local tourists discovered the tiny islet of Kandiwata, Daram, it was a well-kept secret. Because of its beautiful rock formations and crystal-clear water, which are comparable to those in the stated province, some people refer to the location as Little Coron, Palawan.

The limestone walls that make up this rock formation are thought to have formed thousands of years ago as a result of weathering, erosion, and wave impact.

Tourists can kayak, snorkel, and swim in the pristine, green waters of Kandiwata, which also features a small piece of an islet with white, powdery sand.

The provincial capital Tacloban City is fairly close to the site.

Daily flights connect Manila with Tacloban. Some jeepneys can transport travelers from the airport to the city bus terminal, where they can board vans or jeepneys bound for Babatngon town.

Numerous boats waiting to be used as serving vessels for Kandiwata are parked in the port. It takes more than an hour to get there from Babatngon port.
