As part of the “Oplan Ligtas Sumvac (summer vacation) 2023” campaign, over 6,000 police officers have been stationed at various locations nationwide to safeguard the security of both domestic and foreign tourists, particularly during this month’s fiesta celebrations.

Col. Jean Fajardo, the PNP’s spokesperson, claimed in a radio interview on Sunday that police officers are patrolling popular tourist destinations like Boracay, Palawan, and Siargao to help with traffic management and secure transportation hubs.

“Yung atin implementation ng ating Oplan SumVac ay nagtutuloy tuloy ‘yan kaya naman ‘yung ating deployment doon sa ating mga major thoroughfares ay nandiyan tayo para umalalay doon sa mga management and control ng traffic… ” Our deployment in our main thoroughfares is there to support the management and control of traffic, she said, adding that “our execution of our Oplan SumVac continues.

In accordance with Oplan Ligtas Sumvac, all regional and provincial police agencies are required to activate their emergency plans and make the most of the personnel deployment through tourist police units in collaboration with local government entities, local tourism councils, and the Department of Tourism.
